Singetti 99

March 27, 1999

The second annual "Singetti" was run by the Hamilton West Avenue Christadelphian young people. This spagetti dinner and hymn sing was held on the evening of March 27, 1999 and was attended by about 70 people from the ecclesia. It was a bit chaotic in the kitchen but we all pulled together ( and a little too hard on the oven door...) And everything turned out okay. We ended up with ten extra bags of spagetti left over, but I'm sure that it tasted great later on in the week for thoses who volunteered to help dispose of it! The attack of the killer spagetti sauce is a story that you should ask Sara Farrar about...I will not disclose the details of this fiasco over the internet!

Camping and The Thunder 2000

May 5-9, 1999

These are the lucky few who will be roughing it up in Algonquin...
John Manson, Ian McPhee, Kris Taggart, Nathan Farrar (didn't go!), David Manson, ShielaManson, CelesteMcPhee, Erin Spence, Jenn Wentworth, Angela Paynchenson (didn't go!)
This should be interesting! I'll bring back a full report of how it went! ~E.S

Well, the camping trip was an amazing experience! Of the four days we had about 2.5 rainy days, but we all kept a cheery countenance and came out of the woods with only a few bug bites and a little dirtier than when we went in! The whole trip was approximately 60km long. We paddled through many lakes (Big trout, little trout, medium trout, rainbow trout, tiny trout..they all seemed the same to me!) Many rivers connecting the lakes and Kris Taggart's favourite - portaging! We averaged about three to four portages a day (they're really exhausting!) Ranging in length from a few hundred feet to the mammoth of all portages which was 2.5 (or there about) kilometers long! The cuisine on this luxury trip into the gentle outdoors was excellent ranging from oatmeal with all the fixin's (EVERY MORNING!!!!!) To humus and a stir fry, and linguini with tomato sauce. At each new campsite I would like everyone to know that the first tent up was always the "girls" tent. The members of which were: Celeste McPhee, Erin Spence and Jennifer Wentworth. The only down part of the trip (besides the monotonous rain!) Was the absence of a traditional camp fire! The day that we left a fire ban was in effect and so was stated on our camping permit. Even though it POURED down rain, we still could not have a fire because it said we couldn't on our permit! Oh well. All in all the camping trip was a great experience that I would recommend to anyone who likes a little exercise ( they work you like a horse! Kidding...) Spending time with some fun people and experiencing God's creation in a different way.
